Holy and merciful God,
in your presence we confess
our failure to be what you created us to be.
You create us to share in life together,
but we treat our relationships as disposable.
When we disagree, we turn our backs on each other.
In the face of suffering, we fail to support one another,
and we pull away from those who might support us.
We have rejected your gift of loving, mutual community.
Forgive us, we pray.
Free us from our self-imposed loneliness,
and welcome us again into relationship with you,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
