invitation: everyone who asks receives

Jesus promises that everyone who asks will receive.
At this table, we receive the presence of Christ in the gift of bread and cup.
Jesus promises that everyone who seeks will find.
If you seek the presence of Christ, we pray that you will find him at this table.
Jesus promises that for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
On behalf of the church universal, in the name of Jesus Christ, you are welcome to this table!

dedication: abundance

God of justice,
we have received so much from you,
and we gladly respond with the abundance of our giving.
Receive what we offer as a sign of our commitment
to do justice for all people,
to seek after mercy in all things,
and to walk humbly with you all our days.
We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

illumination: heart of all things

O Lord, your Word sees to the heart of all things
and speaks the truth of your blessing into every life.
As we listen to these words of scripture,
may we hear your everlasting Word
calling us to share your healing and reconciliation with all people.
We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

confession: repent

God of grace,
you promise to make all things new
and draw us into whole and loving relationships.
We confess that we have not believed in your forgiveness.
We have held our neighbors’ mistakes and failures against them,
and we have refused to share the mercy you offer us so freely.
Now, we repent.
Forgive us, Lord, and lead us into a new beginning.
Make us your people again,
for we choose to be reconciled
in Jesus’ name.

Illumination: listening

Jesus, Master,
we are listening for your Word.
Give us your Holy Spirit,
so we might hear your Good News
in the words of scripture and preaching.
Teach us to seek you always
and to respond to your call.
We pray for the sake of your holy name.
