a community creating for the relentless return of Sunday
O Holy Fire,
your love burns bright
with a radiance that beckons us
out of the darkness and despair
and into the light of love.
As we enter your presence
consume us with the fire of your holiness
that only the renewed, refined,
reclaimed, and restored body of Christ
may live on in us.
Amen.

We believe in the God who is the pillar of fire and the pillar of cloud.
We trust in our Holy Parent who judges and shows mercy.
We hope in our Creator who is faithful to all that is seen and unseen.
We believe in the Jesus who rode in triumph into Jerusalem.
We trust in the Messiah who was crucified, died, and was buried.
We hope in the living Christ who walked out of the tomb.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, giver of faith and formation.
We trust in the Breath of Life who stirs, sustains, and sanctifies.
We hope in our Advocate who brings to us, and through, us the gift of God’s peace.

Holy God,
when you call us to hope and to act with great boldness,
we tremble at your presence and cover our eyes.
We are afraid of what we will see
for your greatness unveils our weakness,
your justice unveils our brokenness,
and your holiness unveils our stained past.
O Lord, hear our prayer.
Giver of all grace, forgive us our sins.
Give us the strength to renounce that which hides you from us.
Give us the wisdom to execute justice and righteousness.
Give us the courage to uncover our hearts
that we might see the grace of your Son
and not lose heart.

We label ourselves liberal conservative democrat republican young and old. We say that we are welcoming to all but we condemn those with whom we disagree. We hold our line with military precision and the strength of a toddler who refuses to give up their toy. God grant us the space to let go. Grant us the peace to relinquish control. Grant us the strength to stand up and speak your peace in the ears of our neighborhood, our nation, our world.
Time for silent reflection.
