Reflecting upon what it means to embrace life as God intends it by embracing the lifestyle to which Jesus calls us (1 John 5:9-13)? Digging deep into Jesus’ prayer for his disciples, that they would be an inspiration to a world that is dramatically different from the world God intends (John 17:6-19)?

Yes…Sunday is relentless, isn’t it!? The season of Easter continues to wind it’s way towards Pentecost as we are also faced with milestones in the calendar that have become a part of our life together.
This is graduation time! Is your congregation doing anything special to recognize and celebrate graduates? Share your creative ideas here! How does your congregation handle the inevitable oozing of the sacred Hallmark holiday of Mother’s Day into your worship? What do you do (or don’t do) to celebrate and not alienate?
The Scriptures this week give us a chance to explore the call for the entire world to celebrate the goodness of God, who restores life as it is intended and brings justice to all the earth (Psalm 98), our responsibility to love one another in the same way that the Christ has loved (aka, loves) us (John 15:9-17), the truth that God speaks in and through whomever God chooses, despite our own preconceived notions to the contrary (Acts:10:44-48), and the undeniable life-ness and light-ness of God (1 John 5:1-6).

We made it through the sheep and shepherds of Easter 4, so Easter 5 is upon us as fast as ever! We on LiturgyLink are running a little late this week due to some other commitments, but we’re still facing the relentless return of Sunday! Why not do it together with us??!
This week present some pretty wide options for us. We have Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch meeting up on the road to Gaza, John’s call for love to be perfected among us, and Jesus calling us to bear fruit amidst his vines and be faithful disciples. Are you thinking of tying these together in some way? Will you continue along as part of a previous series? Or are you going in another direction entirely?

We have arrived at the Fourth Sunday of Easter–in many places known as “Good Shepherd Sunday.” Are you going with the Good Shepherd this week? Singing Psalm 23, reciting it in unison in an attempt to liberate it from the funeral, or ignoring it completely? Pairing the psalm with Jesus saying, plain as day, “I am the good shepherd“? And what does all that mean to urban people, anyway?
Maybe you’re headed for the continuation of the story of Peter being questioned by the authorities about his healing activities, and responding with “Jesus, people, Jesus!”
Or perhaps this week you’re loving in truth and action, not just in word and spirit.
Or maybe you’re on a completely different track!
Whatever direction you might be headed, stop in for some brainstorming! Even if all you have is a word or a sentence fragment, it may spark someone else’s creativity! This is a space for letting the ideas fly, bouncing off one another’s thoughts, and letting our imaginations run wild on their way to worship. What are you waiting for?? 🙂
